    Location: Dead Horse Point State ParkThe Bighorn Gallery at Dead Horse Point State Park will be exhibiting images by Moab photographer Jon Fuller. ‘Seasons on the Colorado Plateau’ is a collection of photographs on display May 1st through July 1st. A reception with the artist will be held on Friday, May 4th between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Scouts travel back in time to 1858 – 1861 and enter the world of a soldier with Johnston’s Army at Camp Floyd in the Utah Territory.  New recruits are processed, mustered into the army and issued uniforms.

Meet the Park Naturalist at 7:30 pm at the Bridger Bay Campground trail head (near site #8) for a 2-mile round trip hike around Buffalo Point under the light of the full moon and the setting sun.     Location: Dead Horse Point State ParkThe full moon rises behind the prominent La Sal Mountains slowly revealing the rugged landscape below.  Hike across sandstone illuminated by the pale light of a full moon.  Join park staff at the visitor center for a 1-mile full moon hike along the Intrepid Loop. Participants should meet at the visitor center at 8:30 pm, bring flashlights, water, sturdy shoes and a sense of adventure.

    Location: Fremont Indian State Park and Museum  Everyone is invited to watch or participate in the annual Atlatl Competition.  Registration is at 8:30 a.m., and the competition will begin at 9:00 a.m. and last until around noon.  Participants throw darts at targets around a mile-long course using an atlatl (throwing stick). Park day use fee is $3.00 per person or $6.00 per vehicle up to 8 people. Utah seniors 62+ pay half price.  Free admission for holders of Utah State Parks annual pass.

Meet at White Rock Bay Day Use Area just before sunset to look at the sun through a Solar Scope, followed by a 20 minute presentation about space. Deep space viewing will take place afterwards. Please arrive no later than 8:30 pm (the Gate closes to incoming traffic at 9 pm). If you bring a flashlight, please make it a red-colored lens. Weather permitting. Park entrance fees apply.
